Online Community Manager

Working It Out Together Season 2

 

Working It Out Together is a very successful documentary series on APTN with a strong brand, audience recognition, and reach across Canada. The Working It Out Together series’ audience consists primarily of Aboriginal women aged 20 to 45 with some co-viewing of men and children. These women are pillars in their communities. They are extremely active in social media with Facebook out-reaching all other current social media platforms.

The Working It Out Together Community Manager is the online voice of the show and the larger movement toward health and wellness, managing communications in both directions. This person is responsible for all communications via all social media platforms and the website, and updates website content on a regular basis. Please note: the Community Manager speaks as the show and not as an individual. This position is not appropriate for individuals seeking to raise their personal online profiles.

The Community Manager is First Nations and very interested in promoting health and wellness in our communities across the country. This person is an enthusiastic, positive force, focused on engaging our online community.

 

While every day is different, the Community Manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Create Working It Out Together’s social media and website content distribution plan (editorial schedule)
  • Implement Working It Out Together’s plan through social media outlets and website
  • Monitor, respond to, and engage in online conversations as a champion for the movement in our online community, on a daily basis
  • Research and write content for our social media platforms and website
  • Find new and creative ways to promote the Working It Out Together message
  • Develop and expand our community – get the public to “Join the Movement”
  • Maximize our reach through SEO
  • Become comfortable with the WordPress interface to update the Working It Out Together website
  • Analyze and report social media engagement; translate anecdotal data into recommendations and plans for improvement

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • College Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in digital and/or social media marketing/engagement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital technology, search engine optimization, new trends and the latest in social media innovation 

  • Proficient with social listening tools such as HootSuite and GoogleAlerts
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to hone and utilize different voices
  • Ability to strategize and implement social media in the context of the broader communications plan
